Youth protection has long been a fundamental of Scouting.

The removable, front section of every Scout Handbook has a section on Youth Protection that can be helpful in discussing ‘stranger awareness’ with your children.

BSA provides an online Youth Protection ‘course’ to Parents, Leaders, and other volunteers available at:http://olc.scouting.org/info/ypt.html. It can provide useful parental background prior to a discussion with a child. Youth protection is required before a Leader is to interact with a Cub Scout or Boy Scout.
